M’Skala’s spirit is restored, its attractions revitalised, connections to the surrounding natural heritage reinforced; landscape infiltrates the dense fabric as urban infrastructure, reconnecting distinct quarters that reflect its geophysical characteristics and social fabric. The waterfront is key to M’Skala’s renewal, a geology punctuated by gardens. It counters the effects of rapid, uncontrolled growth and the slow erosion of the social fabric, helping to drive future prosperity.

Project 2 — The Gozo Museum

The Gozo museum comprises the extension and rehabilitation of the Boy’s Junior Lyceum, an iconic piece of modernist architecture designed in the 1950s by architect Joseph Huntingford. In 2019, the discovery of an extensive ancient quarry, dating back to the Punic and Roman periods, necessitated the reinvention of the project around the “sea of stone” that surrounds the modernist building to create a more complete journey through the history and narratives that have defined Gozitan identity.
